I ask one question of everyone I interview on The Atlas of Life. That question is this: “What is your vision for the future of Upper Cervical Chiropractic?” Today, I posted answers to this question from everybody I have interviewed up to this point.
Liz Jones- “My vision for the future of Upper Cervical Chiropractic is seeing this exposed at EVERY chiropractic college across the nation and overseas. I want to see its presence gain strength at Western States even after I graduate and students have resources available to them in the area. I travel hours to Upper Cervical doctors now just for the support. I want to give students at Western States resources to grow and develop into highly qualified, top notch upper cervical doctors.
In general, I see Upper Cervical Chiropractic gaining greater recognition with more and more research supporting it. The quality of doctors in practice, students, patients, and undisputable results will take this profession to a higher ground. Last but not least, I hope my two boys will one day understand their mom’s dedication to this. I have been a single mom throughout this graduate program and often I feel like I don’t give them enough time. I make the quality of our time together count because I know the quantity of our time is sacrificed for others. The day will come when the public will know the power of Upper Cervical Chiropractic!”
Dr. James Tomasi- “My dream is to see enough publicity about these unique, specialized chiropractors that the general public will know there is another avenue for health and healing outside traditional medicine. We purpose to raise awareness in any market available to us because we want to offer people hope and a viable way of escape. Our prayer is that one day, the public will know the power of this philosophy and it will become one of the known ways to get well without drugs, surgery or a ‘test’ to find out what is ailing individuals.
Unity among the Upper Cervical techniques is a secondary vision. The Evolution convention sponsored by UCHCA brings together the different technique practitioners of Upper Cervical annually. We believe this unity will evolve into more defined research that will validate Upper Cervical as a science more chiropractors will choose to learn, and more medical professionals will respect.
Lastly, we envision and pray for reality shows that depict and interview patients of Upper Cervical that have benefitted health wise and are allowed to share their story with the world so others know where to go to release health and healing messages to their body.”
Dr. Ray Drury- “My vision for the future of Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a lofty one. I see a unified profession working together to create awareness, do research, lobby congress for what we want as a profession. I see Upper Cervical Health Centers in every city in America, in every country in the world. Upper Cervical research centers and hospitals were patient progress can be documented. I see huge convention centers filled with UC docs, staff and patients for seminars like the UC Evolution. I see conferences like this going on simultaneously all over the world. I see UCHC commercials starring well-known actors and athletes played during the Super Bowl, the NCAA Championship, and the Masters. I see Tiger Woods playing in the US Open wearing a UCHC logo on his hat. I see the UCHC Chevrolet winning the Daytona 500. I see UC docs on TV shows like Oprah, 60 Minutes, 20/20 all in a positive light. I see every office with a 3-4 month waiting list for new patients, patients paying top dollar out of pocket just to get checked by an UC doctor. I see Upper Cervical care finally recognized as the premier healing profession on the planet. I only see one problem…enough UC doctors to keep up with the demand!”
Dr. Darren White- “Flat out leaders of the Wellness Revolution. Period.”
Dr. Tom Forest- “I think the future for UC is fantastic.
I see big issues. (1) It seems that the more generations removed we are from the developer of our UC technique, the more it can be watered down and the sloppier we can become. Thus, we must really sharpen our adjusting, scanning, leg check, x-ray, and patient protocols. (BJ called it slipping and checking) (2) Can you imagine a local hospital that wants to change its image to a wellness center? They’d have to incorporate UC into their programs.
What I’m saying is the popularity will go though the roof and yet only 5% of our profession is trained and practicing UC. There will be a big shortage coming up very soon.
Just like Detroit having to retool to produce a product the consumer desires, much of our profession may have to rethink the practice of chiropractic… returning to what BJ told us 50 years ago.
At least that’s my input on things!”
Dr. Paul Hambrick- “Upper cervical chiropractic is on the cutting edge of chiropractic clinical science, and I would like to see us on the cutting edge of every single aspect of patient care.
I want to see us adopt, as standard, seated CT imaging with objective computer analysis.
I want to see us proving correction with objective post imaging, and I want us being unashamed of calling what we do a specialty.
And I would love to see us agree on a criteria for definitively determining atlas subluxation whether that is scanning palpation, supine leg check, instrumentation, cervical syndrome or a combination of all of it.”
Dr. Drew Hall- “My vision for Upper Cervical is simple. This procedure should be available to every man, woman, and child in this world. It should be the core curriculum at all of our colleges.
This vision WILL be brought forth by the great people that exist within our Upper Cervical Ranks. As you know, there is a massive movement that is happening within the profession at this time.
There are things happening o every front that are bringing this message to the forefront: Dr. Kerr on Montel and The Doctors, UCHCA, Hollywood producing a documentary movie, UC being taught on more campuses, etc.
I believe that UCHC (Upper Cervical Health Centers) will be vital in bringing UC to the world. For too long there have been technique wars. United we stand, separated we fall. It is time that ALL UC techniques band together to bring the UC message to the world in a united front. There is power in having everyone on board to make this a reality. I do not believe that we need to combine techniques. What needs to be done is a unification around the Upper Cervical Principle.
This is the common link between all of the techniques. And this is what we must stand on and unify on. It is our common purpose.
UC is on the move. BJ’s vision is in its second wave. And in due time this TRUTH will reach the masses. I feel honored to be able to work in a profession that does so much good and is so amazingly rewarding. I can’t imagine doing anything else!!!!!!”
