Dr. B.J. Patzer Speaks to Parker College of Chiropractic Upper Cervical Club

Dr. B.J. Patzer spoke to a solid audience of chiropractic students yesterday June 16, 2009 at the Parker Upper Cervical Club. A 1993 graduate of Parker himself, Dr. Patzer spoke on a number of topics related to Upper Cervical Chiropractic.

Students listened intently as Dr. Patzer started off by imploring the students to be proficient at their chiropractic technique of choice. “It doesn’t matter if it’s upper cervical or AK,” Dr. Patzer said. “Go to two or three technique seminars a year and get really good at what you do.”

He touched on his father’s 54 years of practicing Upper Cervical Chiropractic in the Texas panhandle. He also spoke about the upper cervical neurology and its significance on the rest of the body as a whole. He pointed out that if someone has a knee problem, the nerve that innervates the knee joint passes through the Atlas. A misalignment of C1 can easily affect that nerve, or any other nerve of the body.

Dr. Patzer addressed the concept of all chiropractors having the ability of adjusting upper cervical spine. He differentiated it by explaining the specificity Upper cervical Chiropractors rely on. He related Upper cervical Chiropractic to baseball. “It’s the difference between being a baseball player and being a professional baseball player,” Dr. Patzer explained.

He touched on the vast amount of research done within Upper Cervical Chiropractic, mentioning that “Besides Activator and CBP, upper cervical has more research than any other technique out there.” He also encouraged students to study neurology more when they graduate. “I know right now you’re just trying to pass tests,” Dr. Patzer acknowledged, “But once you get out into practice, after two or three years, go back and study neurology. You’ll really have a better understanding of it then.”

He concluded by showing the numerous examples of Upper Cervical Chiropractic in the media within the last two years. Dr. Patzer included examples from The Doctors, Montel Williams, Good Morning America, and more.

Students gave Dr. Patzer a round of applause at his conclusion.
