Dr. Nathan Berbereia

I have known Dr. Nathan Berbereia since the Fall of 2004. We actually started out in the same organic chemistry class at Parker, and then moved on to the same class in the chiropractic program. We took two separate paths for sure. I quit school and didn’t return until a year later. Nathan graduated on time.

Nathan has been practicing up in Missouri since that time as an independent contractor. He recently began his journey into learning more about Upper Cervical Chiropractic. He first contacted me on Facebook a few months ago, and since then we have talked a lot through email and phone. I can say without a doubt that he is passionate about wanting to do what’s best for the patient, and he’s determined to find out what that is.

Nathan was able to take some time away from his busy schedule to answer some questions for The Atlas of Life.

Brandon: Why did you decide to become a chiropractor?

Dr. Nathan: “Well, I graduated with an Accounting degree and worked in that for about 2 and half years. Needless to say that wasn’t my calling and during that time I started to search for a different career. I ended up in Massage Therapy school after a friend told me about how she was helping people through massage.

After graduating Massage school, I planned on working in the resort spa industry but my wife encouraged me to talk with a local Chiropractor that went to our church. I had no idea what a Chiropractor did so I was kind of reluctant to go work for him, but I am so thankful that I did.

When I started there he took me through the new patient exam process with the Nervous system scans and gave me a report on what he found. I was blown away and asked myself why I had never heard this stuff before. This was health in it’s simplest form. After being under care I could tell my overall health and well-being was improved. Having more energy and heartburn gone within a matter of weeks.

After working in this office for about 6-8 months and seeing people getting well without drugs and surgery I knew that this is what I had been called to do.”

Brandon: What has your experience in practice been like since graduating in December 2007?

Dr. Nathan: “Well, currently I am working as an independent contractor in a cash based family practice. We explain the philosophy of chiropractic to our patients so that they know their health is not based on how they feel, but how their nervous system is truly functioning. We measure this with the millennium insight scans.

So, I feel in this first year I have learned how to communicate the message of chiropractic, but I feel that I am not delivering the principle BJ talked about through the adjustment. And that contradiction is what has led me to my search of Upper Cervical.”

Brandon: How did your interest in Upper Cervical Chiropractic begin?

Dr. Nathan: “There was a NUCCA Chiropractor who moved into the office space next door to us. I had heard that he did something a little different, so I called him to see if I could come observe what they do. After being there about 10 minutes I knew this was some powerful stuff. Most of the patients were driving more than an hour to get to his office which I thought was pretty crazy!

After researching the Upper Cervical world more I realized that is actually a normal thing. He had some crazy cases that greatly improved over the weeks I observed and I just knew I had to learn more about this Upper Cervical stuff.”

Brandon: What Upper Cervical technique interests you most and why?

Dr. Nathan: “Knee Chest and Blair are the two techniques that I am leaning towards. It’s funny because the technique that I said I didn’t want to do is the one I am being most drawn to: Knee Chest.

They are both great techniques as far as the analysis as well and the delivery. Actually, I attended the Knee Chest adjusting seminar June 5 & 6 in Atlanta and got introduced to the technique. I now feel it is the one to pursue! After reading Volume 18, I want to deliver the adjustment with ‘that extra something.’”

Brandon: Upper Cervical Evolution was your first exposure to an Upper Cervical seminar. What did you think?

Dr. Nathan: “It was a powerful seminar. When you get that many principled chiropractors in one room it is very moving and powerful thing. I think it was one of the best seminars I have been to this far in my career. It was really good for me to be in a place with so many outstanding Upper Cervical doctors to get some insight into all of the different techniques, etc. Dr. Ray and Thad are doing an exceptional job putting this movement together to unite all of the Upper Cervical doctors.”

Brandon: You spoke with number of Upper Cervical Chiropractors at Evolution. Who made strong impressions with you?

Dr. Nathan: “I spoke with a lot of doctors who all made great impressions with me. The one who stuck out the most with his presentation was Dr. Stan Pierce, Jr. He is very passionate and had a powerful presentation! He talked about performing at your best level and to never compromise what you are delivering to your patients.”

Brandon: When do you plan on making the final transition toward Upper Cervical Chiropractic?

Dr. Nathan: “When I find the right opportunity. I am mentally there but physically have to make the transition.  God is still taking me through this process and the right door hasn’t made itself apparent. It is hard to see my patients everyday knowing I could help them in a more profound way through Upper Cervical Chiropractic. Not being able to do so just yet is frustrating.”

Brandon: What is your vision for the future of Upper Cervical Chiropractic?

Dr. Nathan: “My vision would be for Upper Cervical to be a household name. That everyone understands the importance of being checked for subluxations by an Upper Cervical Doctor. That people would not so eagerly run to their “Doctors” for drugs and surgery,  but would first see their Upper Cervical Doctor to remove nerve interference at the brain stem level to allow their body to heal itself as it is designed to do. “

Once again, a big thank you goes out to Dr. Nathan Berbereia.
