Yesterday, June 24th 2009, at 4:50 am, my wife January gave birth to our 4th child. It was an amazing experience.
January went through about 20 hours of labor with just me by her side. She birthed the baby on her own without the interference of an MD, a nurse, a midwife, or a doula. Just me.
She went through labor and the birthing process without an epidural, pitocin, or the threat of a c-section. Just her.
I had the amazing opportunity to catch the baby as she was born. It’s hard to put into words how awesome that was.
Overall the experience itself was amazing. After three difficult/traumatic birth experiences before this one, January and I both feel this was the pinnacle of any possible birth experience.
After going through the memories I have throughout life, I truly can’t think of a better day in all my life than yesterday.
It just goes to show what happens when you trust in the body’s Innate Intelligence. It truly knows more than the “Educated Man” could ever comprehend.
