In his last several weekly emails, Dr. Tom Forest has described situations in practice where he has been first hand witness to the “bigness” of upper cervical chiropractic.
As a result of this blog, I’ve recently experienced the “bigness” of upper cervical on the internet.
About two months ago on Twitter, I started a conversation with a woman who was experiencing bad neck pain. Ironically, she had originally asked a back pain doctor (a chiropractor I think) if he dealt with neck pain. This particular individual said he did not, but that I had all sorts of information on upper cervical chiropractic. I stumbled onto this conversation by checking my @messages on Twitter and my Twitter name (bharshe) popped up in this dialogue.
I sent a message to this woman, asking her if she had ever tried Upper Cervical Chiropractic. She mentioned she had not and asked me how she could find an Upper Cervical Chiropractor. I referred her to UpCspine and to check back with me about the doctors she found. She found a couple of docs. I was leery because none of the docs had websites. That’s a red flag to me.
She did live in St. Petersburg, FL so I referred her to the Pierce clinic and Drs. Stan Pierce and Stan Pierce, Jr. She was thankful and said she was going to head in to see them.
A week later, I got a Facebook message from a guy that goes to my church. He used to live down here in DFW, but now lives up in Redmond, WA. He wanted to find a good chiropractor up in the Redmond area. Well it just so happens that Dr. Darren White and his associates all practice in the Kirkland/Redmond area, so that’s who I referred this guy to.
Three weeks ago, I received a message in my email inbox from a gentleman in Shanghai, China. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis five years ago, but didn’t believe in “mystery illnesses,” as he called it. He also sent me a scan of his AP Open Mouth x-ray attached to the email. He wanted to know if there was anyone practicing upper cervical near him. When I got back to him the next day, he informed me that he found a Grostic Upper Cervical Chiropractor in Beijing.
Early last week, a woman in Nevada commented here, asking for help in finding an Upper Cervical Chiropractor near her in northern Nevada. I found a Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractor in Sparks, NV just outside Reno. When I forwarded his info to this woman, she was excited because she only lived 40 miles from Sparks. She was worried she would have to fly to Seattle or Southern California to get under upper cervical care.
I haven’t yet followed up with these people to see if they went to each respective doctor. My point in sharing these examples is that having an internet presence is PARAMOUNT in this day and age. Dr. Paul Hambrick posted about this very topic on his blog earlier in the week. From what I have personally seen, there are only a handful, maybe two handfuls, of Upper Cervical Chiropractors with an internet presence. This needs to change.
We are in the Information Age. People go online to acquire information first and foremost. If you don’t have a website with a blog that is regularly updated, how will people ever learn about Upper Cervical Chiropractic? Yes, more and more doctors are getting exposure in the media. That’s great!
We also need exposure online. Facebook and Twitter are good places to start. Posting upper cervical articles on Ezine Articles is another. Creating upper cervical videos on Youtube is a great option as well (I will do this on a weekly basis when I get into practice).
With all of these different Web 2.0 sites, you can drive traffic to your blog and become another upper cervical internet presence.
Blogs are so great because they are so dynamic. I post 5 days a week here on The Atlas of Life and it has already given me some pretty amazing results that I didn’t anticipate for about two years. A static website can do well also, but a site that is regularly updated has an easier time of getting seen by more people more often.
Don’t wait anymore. Get your blog started today! Get on Facebook and Twitter. Write some upper cervical articles for Ezine Articles. Record some of your patients giving their testimonials and post it on Youtube.
People need to hear our message!

before long you’ll need to hire someone just to respond to everyone out there – nice work, Brandon!
Although, on my website and blog, I am specifically communicating to those involved in the upper cervical industry, I too get questions from patients and would-be patients asking about Drs. in their area solely because I am talking about upper cervical.
In fact, I use ‘Twitter Tools’ on my blog, (I believe you do too Brandon, right?) and have it set up to turn my daily log of Tweets into a post for that day (A clever way to create daily content since I’m not quite as prodigious as you, Brandon), and for some reason, these are the posts that patients comment on asking questions about upper cervical.
So, allow me to re-iterate: “Upper cervical doctors! Publish yourselves!”
