The Mission of Upper Cervical: An Interview With Dr. Nick Tedder

The first time I met Dr. Nick Tedder was in February at the UCHC Marketing seminar. He was one of the featured speakers that weekend, as well as one of my favorites. Having met him and spoken to him several times, it is obvious how passionate he is about this mission.

I see him regularly posting messages of hope and inspiration, as well as determination on Facebook. It is not hard to realize how on-purpose and focused to bringing Upper Cervical to the masses Dr. Tedder truly is. His passion has been a great example to me, even from afar.

I am excited Dr. Tedder could take time to answer some questions for The Atlas of Life.

Brandon: How did you first get introduced to chiropractic?

Dr. Tedder:
“I got introduced to chiropractic when I was 16.  I was hanging out with a friend and while we were out being misfits he said to me one day, “I have to go the chiropractor for a few minutes, come with me!”

Not knowing what a chiropractor was, I said “sure!”  To make a long story short, In the five minutes I was there the doctor shared with me “THE BIG IDEA.”  It made so much sense to me.

I was already preparing to go to medical school and ultimately becoming a neurosurgeon. But when I heard the idea that the human body was already programmed for health and not disease, the light bulb went off.

Before that visit with my friend, I had never been under care, didn’t’ have health problems per say, BUT the Above, Down, Inside, Out story that this chiropractor shared with me inspired me to dedicate my life to this wonderful health care!”

Brandon: How did you get into Upper Cervical?

Dr. Tedder: “After about 2 years in practice I got very frustrated with the result we were obtaining or lack there of. Sometimes the cover book looks better than the story on the inside. I was teaching patients that the body is a self healing and self regulating organism and adjustments GET YOU WELL.

Yet people were having to be adjusted for subluxation every week, sometimes twice a week for years, still having their original health problems reoccur. Almost like an expensive aspirin without all of the side effects.

Then I thought, if the body is self healing, then why doesn’t the subluxation heal? All of these types of questions kept coming up and I could not find the answer with traditional chiropractic understanding. The philosophy, science, and art did not match up!

All of a sudden it happened, and I have no idea how, but a Volume 18 ended up in my hands and I read it 6 times and FINALLY I saw the light! The puzzle pieces all came together perfectly!

One example was, that my mind finally made the connection that it is not the adjustment of the subluxation that heals, it is specifically making a correction with “extra something” and with “Staying put value” that heals. Getting the bone in the proper innate position and holding that re-establishes the body’s healing wisdom.

Coincidentally, at the same time, I reconnected with an old college friend and master upper cervical doctor, Dr. Stephen Conicello.  He invited me to his office, I witnessed the “POWER OF UPPER CERVICAL”  and the rest is history! I quit my other office, trained under Dr. Kessinger, Dr. Conicello and later with Dr. Drury; then opened an Upper Cervical Health Center… and never looked back!”

Brandon: What Upper Cervical technique do you utilize and why?

Dr. Tedder: “I utilize the KCUCS brainstem procedure. This was the first technique that God exposed me to and it is the ONE that gives me chills; Innate always provides!

The Knee Chest work is what Dr. Palmer, Lyle Sherman, Dr. Kale utilized, and to this day, I think we have not yet seen the results these three men produced, so I wanted to know what they knew and master it! The Knee Chest work is often criticized and very misunderstood as not being specific and I think that is also what draws me to it. I like being the outcast, it drives me to be the BEST!

However, this procedure amazes me everyday with the results we obtain. It amazes me that I can make ONE correction, monitor that correction with instrumentation, see the patient hold for months at a time, and witness INNATE heal just about every disease known to man!

The knowledge that I obtained with the KCUCS certification made the most scientific, philosophical, and artistic sense to me! Although all Upper Cervical techniques are AMAZING when utilized properly, Knee Chest Procedure just resonated the most with my being. The bottom line is the straight line!”

Brandon: What is the best part about being an Upper Cervical Chiropractor?

Dr. Tedder: “The best part about being an upper cervical doctor is the fact that I was chosen to be an instrument of healing.  It is such and honor and a blessing to coach people on TRUE health, healing and life.  Understanding that people living a life free of subluxation vastly effects every aspect of their existence. As DD [Palmer] said, chiropractic is that which reunites man the physical with man the spiritual. That has to give you chills to be a part of that!”

Brandon: Why did you decide to join Upper Cervical Health Centers?

Dr. Tedder: “I initially decided to join UCHC because I was a new doctor with no experience in business, coming from a full spine practice. I knew that Dr. Thad and Dr. Ray had a business plan that worked for Upper Cervical offices.

I have always been taught from great mentors to find the best and model that! So I did.  The main reason for me signing the dotted line however, was the passion, conviction and mission this organization represents.  The mission is so HUGE to bring Upper Cervical to the world pure and unadulterated to save lives around the world.

One of the biggest misconception about UCHC is that it is another management company. That could not be further from the truth!  It IS A MISSION! This is why some of the biggest and most successful upper cervical doctors are joining our mission, not because they need coaching, but because the world needs UPPER CERVICAL!”

Brandon: What are some of the most amazing things you have witnessed in your practice?

Dr. Tedder: “Four women getting pregnant when the allopaths told them could not, cancer going away, wheel chair bound paralyzed stroke victims walking on their own again, keeping marriages together, kids getting of psychiatric drugs, babies with seizure clearing up, need I go on!”

Brandon: Are you surprised by the growing popularity of Upper Cervical?

Dr. Tedder: “NOT AT ALL! Listen when it makes sense, it makes sense.  People are STARVING for health; they are CRAVING it.  We hold the missing key, the challenge is getting that TRUTH out into the mainstream.

We NEED to get major endorsements like athletes, actors, popular personalities out in the media without watering it down.  Upper Cervical Care has become a huge movement within the chiropractic schools and full spine doctors in the field.

I get at least one phone call a week from confused full spine docs ready to quit. And guess what? I share the TRUTH of Upper Cervical Care and they say “That makes so much sense, that is what I am looking for.

Our profession as a whole has become so watered down and our mission and identity has become lost. I have chiropractors in my community doing tattoo removal and non-surgical facelifts… Upper Cervical IS the only true answer!  It is no surprise to me that Upper Cervical has become so popular.”

Brandon: What is your vision for the future of Upper Cervical Chiropractic?

Dr. Tedder: “My vision is to GET REAL within our profession; Get real with patients; quit watering down chiropractic and GET WITH THE MISSION and help save lives!

My vision is the same as UCHC’s vision…to see the ENTIRE population getting checked on a regular basis for brain stem subluxation. Upper Cervical Care and Subluxation should and WILL be a household name. Just like dentistry has evolved into a separate and distinct essential in a person’s health regimen, so WILL Upper Cervical Specific Care.

Upper Cervical Care IS the leading health choice!”
