Kaizen Wellness: Transforming Wellness in the Chiropractic Office

kaizen wellness logoOne of my role models up to this point has been Dr. Darren White. I first learned about him and everything he was doing last year. I started reading his blog, then corresponding with him through Twitter and email.

I met him at last year’s Blair Conference here in Dallas, then stayed up at his place back in March.

I’ve had the chance to get to know him over the last year, and I really admire the work he does in helping new graduates become successful in business and in practice.

He is also tirelessly dedicating himself to building companies that really advance the wellness concept, which is a noble thing to do considering the sad state of affairs the overall health of our country is in.

With all that being said, I wanted to help him out in any way I could. He and Dr. Shawn Dill, another doctor whose innovations and ideas I respect, have recently created a company called Kaizen Wellness. It is a site that offers chiropractors a way to enlist their patients in the wellness revolution without having to become a Jack-of-all-trades. Here is some information on the company from its homepage.

What is Kaizen Wellness?

Kaizen Wellness in an Internet-based wellness platform designed to enhance and maximize your patients’ access to vital wellness strategies, tools and information, especially in between office visits.  The Kaizen Wellness experience begins with a comprehensive assessment of the six dimensions of well-being.  This provides the patient with an overview of their strengths and weaknesses, which allows them to set and track relevant goals as well as receive additional information and resources as determined by their doctor.

Provider Dashboards

See real-time statistical analysis of the overall wellness of your patient base.  These indicators provide valuable insight into the areas your patients may need additional education or support.  With this information you will be able to better market your supportive wellness products and programs based on true patient need, interest and relevance.  Watch as your products, programs and care prove to be beneficial by documenting the overall progress of your patient base as a whole.  See key wellness biometric indicators change over time.

Allowing the Chiropractor to be a ChiropracTOR

As I said earlier, what I like about Kaizen Wellness is that it offers a chiropractor the opportunity to recommend changes to other aspects of a patient’s life without compromising his / her philosophical principles. Here’s how:

“Some patients report that when they go to the chiropractor they feel overwhelmed by the choices that they need to make as they begin care.  The many marketing messages we offer our patients during their first visits can often lead to a patient dropping care or disengaging from the experience.

Kaizen Wellness will allow for you to do what you do best… being a chiropractor!  The system will allow your additional products and services to be targeted and offered in a timely fashion when the patients themselves have expressed a need or desire for them.

This feature is especially important for those doctors who are attempting to increase their “back end sales” but feel that they are compromising their chiropractic integrity by offering these products in their offices.  Many doctors do not dispute the value of these additional products or services but are looking for a level of separation from the chiropractic experience

No matter where you stand philosophically, Kaizen Wellness will allow you to broaden your scope of products and services.  Furthermore, you will save time in the adjusting room utilizing targeted recommendations made over the platform.  Finally, you will save money by being able to limit inventory and management of your products and services by moving them into a virtual world.”

One way that Kaizen Wellness does all this is that they provide Certified Health Coaches. Each coach has a 4-year degree and 8 months of training in their respective key areas. Those key areas include stress management, weight management, smoking cessation, pre-natal care, and behavioral change.

Unlike when I was in the Parker clinic and was required to be everything to every patient, one could completely focus on chiropracTIC and literally have virtual assistants taking care of everything else wellness-related.

Right now Kaizen Wellness is in Beta Release, meaning that minor adjustments are being made periodically. Beta release also means a significant discount to the first 30 clinics that get started. You can click here for more information on pricing.

Kaizen Wellness also has a blog, which obviously is something I am a proponent of. More updates are sure to come, but you can check out the blog here.

You can also follow Kaizen Wellness on Twitter.
