health care reform

(Editor’s note: This was received in an email last week. I thought it was important and deserved to be posted here.)

The issues include your right to see patients directly and your right to conduct a private, patient-pay practice, without government interference or limitations.

Yes, this is a serious concern.  Many sections of the legislation already passed by the various committees of the US House of Representatives make reference to using the Medicare model as a basis for a “reformed” health care system!

What if all of your cash patients were managed the same way as your Medicare patients are today?

The government would set rates. The government would audit your records. The government would do post pay audits and could request refunds on all of your patients.

YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPT OUT!

Members of ICA’s Legislative Team have asked legislators and the key staff members of all Congressional committees
working on health care reform two profound questions:

“Is there anything in the legislation that would prohibit, limit or penalize any consumer from taking their own money and going to any health care professional and purchasing any service they feel they need, without any government interference?

Of equal importance to us:

“Is there anything in this legislation that would prohibit, limit or penalize any provider from providing that service?”

We could not get a straight answer from anyone to either of these questions!

The point is: Just because you practice in a “cash” model today does not mean you are immune to the potential impact of health care reform legislation!

All they need to do is apply the current Medicare model for “cash patients” to ALL of your patients.  It could happen and the implications should be obvious and alarming.

This is scary stuff, the  ICA’s Political Action Committee (ICA-PAC) is working hard on changing all this, they need your help, here’s how you can help.

You can download the reply form here and we ask that you respond today with a generous donation.

You can use a credit card and FAX it to ICA at 703-528-5023, or telephone in your donation to 1-800-423-4690.

You can mail your check made payable to ICA-PAC to the ICA headquarters at 1110 North Glebe Road, Suite 650, Arlington, VA 22201.

You can also make a contribution on-line through the secure donation link at: https://www.adjustthevote.org/user/donation.

This is how these political groups always play it. It’s always based on fear. The fear of our practice rights being taken away. It feeds the ego which uses fear to keep itself alive. I have been in chiropractic for 20 years and each year these chiropractic political groups come up with some fear based reason to get donations. Yes we need to keep our rights to practice freely. I will never give those up. But at this point there is no reason to think that the government will take those away. The chiropractors who fear being audited are the ones that manipulate people over and over and over again. They are not skilled upper cervical practitioners who are working to help sick people get well, they are only interested in making money. We have a lot of unethical chiropraqctors in our profession who are only concerned with making money and not with correcting subluxations. Stay focused on the principles of chiropractic. The major premise: “There is a Universal Intellegence in all matter that continually gives to it all of its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence”. What does thatt principle mean? It means that IT’S running the Universe, IT’S doing it, not our little pea brains. Lets focus on removing the subluxation, on removing the interference between brain cell and tissue cell, between God and man. Keep our mind focused on what’s at hand and not what may or may not happen in the future. The future does not exist. Let’s be at peace and be in the now and Universal Intelligence will take care of what we don’t have control over anyway.

As a new practice, I have a diversified practice and I do feel that the media is putting the fear in patients. What has Obama done so far for health care, please let me know?

The only thing that does exist is mind or infinite intelligence. And it is true it knows all things and holds the Universe together. However, on this plane man can choose to interfere and deny such an intelligence which of course is a major subluxation. There are times when we do need to act and innate let’s us know when and where to act or take action. I am sure innate influenced us to act during WWII to stop the growth of fascism perpetuated by the Nazis and the killing of innocent Jews. The problem I have is legislating or enacting legislation that could be used to create a Chiropractic holocaust.
