Dr. Richard Doble has left comments on a regular basis here on The Atlas of Life. His comments are always very interesting and insightful, so I thought I would ask him to do an interview.
I am grateful he could take the time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions for The Atlas of Life.
Dr. Brandon: How did you get into chiropractic?
Dr. Doble: “I went to a chiropractor as a teenager as a result of a high school wrestling injury. It helped me and I became interested in it.”
Dr. Brandon: What led you to upper cervical chiropractic?
Dr. Doble: “I had severe eczema, migraine headaches, chronic back pain, sciatica, neck pain, right arm pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, allergies, hypertension, depression, a poor attitude, frequent colds and flu, heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, severe snoring, fallen arches on both feet, and my right leg was one inch shorter than my left despite getting regular chiropractic manipulation for 20 years and being a practicing chiropractor for 8 years.
At the age of 35 I had my first upper cervical adjustment by Dr. Bryan Duff – wow, the lights came on and these health conditions vanished. I learned the Duff method from Dr. Duff and I then sought out Dr. Clarence Jenson who was one of the last chiropractors alive to intern under Dr. B.J. Palmer. I spent the next 5 years under the instruction of Dr. Jenson learning the Palmer Upper Cervical Method.”
Dr. Brandon: What technique do you utilize and why?
Dr. Doble: “I do the B.J. Palmer Upper Cervical HIO Method (side posture). I practice this way because I believe it is the right way.”
Dr. Brandon: What are some of the most interesting things you have witnessed in your time as an upper cervical chiropractor?
Dr. Doble: “My mother in law contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion, she becoming HIV negative from atlas care only.
A man came to me after he was told by Kaiser that his heart was dead and he would die soon, he came to the office in a wheel chair and on oxygen, I adjusted him and monitored him for a few months and he is still alive and is an excavation contractor.
I have a patient who comes to me now who was given a terminal diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis by many medical doctors. He now is doing great, he has referred me many patients.
I saw quite a few people with cancer get well under Dr. Jenson’s care. It is amazing what can happen if we quit treating musculoskeletal complaints and start correcting the subluxation.”
Dr. Brandon: You mentioned to me once how your wife has been helped greatly by upper cervical chiropractic, can you tell us how?
Dr. Doble: “My wife Rochelle has had polycystic kidney disease and was given a terminal diagnosis, 3 heart attacks due to a heart defect and was given a terminal diagnosis from that, she is still alive, no cardiologist, no drugs. She also has diabetes and has lost her leg and her eyesight to the disease. She works in my office and knows more about chiropractic than anyone I know of. We correct the subluxation and INNATE does everything else.”
Dr. Brandon: What is your vision for upper cervical chiropractic?
Dr. Doble: “I want everyone in the world to know what Upper Cervical Chiropractic is, and to have access to it.”

I have not known Dr. Doble for a long period of time, but I had known his mentor, Dr. Clarence Jenson. He was what I refer to as an ‘absolutist’. There was not a shade of gray in Dr. Jenson. Things are either right or wrong and he recognized the latter and was certain to let you know of your error.
Dr. Doble became known to me fairly recently and I already know this interview needs to have a “part II”. He has much to share with others and does so willingly and without compensation. While I enjoyed reading this interview, it left me wanting to know more. Thank you!
I second that Rob!
