5 Essentials I Can’t Survive Without!

by January Harshe on March 26, 2010

1. Chiropractic: You guessed it! I can NOT live with out my chiropractor! Luckily (if you consider years of school, sacrifices, hard work and a huge amount of student loans ‘luck’), my chiropractor is my husband!  It was completely worth it. Making sure my family is free of nerve interference is the most important thing I can do for our health.

2. Tea Tree Oil: This is amazing for many things, but for me it is especially so with toothaches. I have an impacted wisdom tooth that I refuse to get pulled. Maybe I’m stubborn, who knows.  The tooth gives me trouble once in a while. If you have ever experienced this, then you know it is extremely painful. The tea tree oil has a naturally numbing effect and helps with infections.  Last time my tooth flared up, I used tea tree oil, applied a small amount with a q-tip, and within a few days the pain and infection were gone. You can read more about tea tree oil here.

aloe vera3. Aloe Vera: I’m not talking about the green stuff in a bottle, but rather the REAL plant.  Aloe vera plant is a gift from God in my opinion.  Every house should have an aloe plant.  They are supposed to be easy to take care of, but I seem to know how to prove that wrong.

We have used it on burns from the sun and stove, cuts of all shapes and sizes, on my skin as a moisturizer (feels kinda funny at first) and on my tooth I previously mentioned.  Aloe pulls out infections and has wicked healing properties. I have cut out pieces of aloe and put it on cuts and stuck a band-aid over it.  It is better than stitches!

4. Colloidal Silver: I know this is an outside-in approach, but when we seem to need a little extra something, this is the last thing I turn to.  Colloidal Silver has helped us with eye infections (breast milk is good for this too if you have some on hand), sore throats, cuts and all over ickyness.  It helped me greatly after I birthed my last baby unassisted at home. That’s all I have to say about that!

vitamix, smoothiesBasically, Colloidal Silver and Aloe vera make the perfect stitches for minor cuts at home.  One time our 3rd daughter fell and hit her head on the window sill when she was about 18 months old. She acquired a deep, but small cut on her forehead.  Probably could have used 2 stitches.  Instead, I dropped some colloidal silver into it and cut aloe out of an aloe leaf and put it on the cut, then secured it with a band-aid. I switched it out every so often over a few days.  She is now 2 1/2 and you can’t even see the scar anymore.

5. My Freakin’ Awesome Vitamix: We mostly use our Vitamix for GREEN SMOOTHIES! Our favorite basic recipe is: water, spinach, kale, frozen berries, bananas and ice if needed.  The kids love it and it’s a perfect start to the day!

I have to agree with each and every one of those. I love my Chiropractor husband, Both because he’s my darling husband and because he’s a Chiropractor. I love Tee Tree Oil. I think I have 4 bottles of it around the house. We have a HUGE Aloe Vera plant and a bunch of smaller ones. They are fantastic. I Love Colloidal Sliver. I had a horrible tooth ache and used it for a few days before I could get to the dentist. Not only was the pain gone, but the dentist couldn’t find anything wrong with the tooth. No cavity or anything. Colloidal Silver is awesome. And, last but definately not lease is my FANTASTIC Vitamix Blender!!! Oh. My. Gosh!! I love that thing! I use it all the time. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Great list January!

Is there a brand of tea tree oil that you reccomend? It seems like they vary a lot in their effectiveness to me- I would use it more-Thanks!

This is the brand I get (the pic on the left hand side): http://www.teatreeplace.com/ I usually buy it at Sprouts. It’s not too pricey, especially considering the small amount I use at a time.
