Quotes From Old School Chiropractic Big Shots

by Brandon Harshe, DC on June 5, 2010

B.J. Palmer: “We get sick because of something inside going wrong! We get well because of something inside going right!

Innate Intelligence (nature, spirit, subconscious or unconscious mind or other name given this internal power within us) is what cures and heals. Innate intelligence is never sick, never depleted and is always full to capacity and running over. It is there, ready, willing, anxious to deliver life and health at all times, in all places, and in all ways. Its potentials are there from the moment of birth to the last breath before death. Its potentials are there from the down, depleted, or dying the body, the Innate power house is desiring to, capable of, and ready to get the sick body well.”

William G. Blair: “Be specific, be scientific, be precise, and only give quality care to your patient. You will be rewarded bountifully.”

Ralph Gregory: “Therefore, the science of chiropractic is to find out the exact location and malposition of the subluxated vertebra; to find the amount of interference; to determine the exact adjustment that will remove the misalignment factors of the subluxation, remove the interference; ascertain places of origin of function, paths of distribution, and the location of the functional effects of that interference. To put the latter statement another way: relate the subluxation to the disease process.

Thus the whole procedure rests upon the restoration principle. To restore the vertebra to its proper position; restore nerve supply; restore function and to restore health. Any so-called adjustment that does not restore to or toward normal the misalignment factors of the subluxation is not an adjustment; and therefore cannot be chiropractic science.”

Clarence Gonstead: “Are you qualified to be a Specialist? If chiropractic is to survive, every chiropractor must be the specialist he is trained to be. The chiropractic specialty is removing nerve interference; it takes skill, precision, knowledge, and experience. It means understanding what causes nerve pressure, the ability to pinpoint nerve pressure and reducing the nerve pressure by correcting the subluxated vertebra.”

D.D. Palmer: “There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause.”

@Karen the chiropractic council in the UK backed themselves into a legal corner with the only way out to be to capitulate to those who sought to destroy the credibility fo chiropractic in the first place. The whole mess couldn’t have worked out better for those seeking to discredit the profession and the sad part is chiropractors participated in the process.

Just because some “organization” or group says something does not “exist” does not make it so. Vertebral Subluxation in the traditional sense is hard to defend. Vertebral Subluxation Complex can get more traction in the formalized academic setting.
