Chiropractic is a philosophy, science and art of keeping the nervous system free and clear of interference so that the body’s Innate Intelligence can express itself to every square inch of the body. When this happens, your body has the opportunity to heal itself completely.
Interference happens by way of a vertebral subluxation, which is comprised of five components as described by Dr. B.J. Palmer in Volume XVIII: The Adjustment Specific - The Subluxation Specific in 1934. They are: 1.) malposition of a vertebra, 2.) occlusion of a foramen, 3.) increased pressure in the neural canal, 4.) interference to transmission of mental impulses, 5.) and a three-directional torqued vertebrae. These vertebral subluxations will prevent complete 100% transmission of nervous system messages to travel to the rest of the body.
Your Innate Intelligence will do whatever it must to protect your body, and that means robbing Peter to pay Paul, so to speak. If there is a deficiency in nervous system transmission to the body, it will adapt however it can, which will only create deficiencies in other parts of the body.
These vertebral subluxations are removed through specific and direct applications of force. This force is applied at the level of the vertebral subluxation. The body’s Innate Intelligence will apply that force in the best way possible to the affected vertebra. This might result in the affected vertebra completely returning to its normal position, or it might result in a near return to normal. There is no guarantee what will or will not actually happen.
This will, however, diminish the five components discussed above, though not always completely. Only your body’s Innate Intelligence can determine that correctly.
While many chiropractors diagnose, Chiropractic itself is not a treatment for any disease. Treatments for specific conditions and diseases are unique to allopathic health care practitioners only, not chiropractors.
